February 2009, Michalis Anronikou

With great pleasure we present this month Michalis Andronikou.

He is a young composer from Cyprus, very talented, who at the beginning of his life chose a difficult and lonely road,
as in this not very inspiring era he set in music the poetry of Kostis Palamas in an extraordinary way by creating 12 orchestral music diamonds. In this, his first work "An everyday music" published in 2003, "music is composed like the pages of a diary". Some “pages” reflect his daily reality, while others reminisce on past times, in a melancholy mood.

In his second work "two points" published in 2006, in an artistic collaboration with the great artists Miltos Pantelias and Irini Gkonou, Andronikou continues to defend his ideals by insisting on following the path he chose. He continues to set in music poetry (of Pela Soultatou), recitation of Dimitris Kataleifos and performance of Irontina and to compose ecstatic music journeys, taking as a starting point the myth of Zeus' birth.

In his third work “ Al-hatt” published in 2008, Michalis Andronikou with 12 “handmade” musical compositions improvises by searching the meaning and the mystery of writing through sounds. A musical journey, that unwraps on 17 artistic constructions in a novel dialogue with the exhibits of the Museum of Islamic Art.
An acoustic masterpiece that travels and lulls our soul.

In his recent work "From the land, water and air" published in December 2008, Michalis Andronikou composed happy songs full of emotions for children and adults with heroes the animals.
They are excellent music compositions that fulfil us with happiness.
